3M coatings

The US company was set up in 1902 as a mining concern, but gradually diversified its activities and now offers products for end consumers (cleaning products such as the Scotch-Brite® scouring pads, office materials such as Scotch tape® and post-its®) and industrial products (chemicals, abrasives, pharmaceuticals, industrial cleaning products, automotive products, etc.).

In 1950 it was transformed into a multinational and now has over 55,000 products and a large number of registered trademarks. 3M operates in over 100 countries and its products are sold in all parts of the world. Today, it is the leading manufacturer of raw materials for the coating industry.

3M products

Our R&D Department maintains constant contact with the 3M coatings business unit as, apart from having a wide range of classic PTFE-based coatings (polytetrafluoroethylene) and derivatives such as PFA, FEP, TF and TFE, it has a range of fluoroplastics and fluorelastomers that include Dyneon® and Dynamar® high performing products that can be used in more aggressive environments as compared to other standard plastics.

3M also supplies Coatresa’s industrial business unit liquid with epoxy coatings such as Scotchkote®, designed to protect against corrosion and used in particular in conduits that operate in aggressive environments.
