What is Polyamide (PA)?

Polyamide (PA) is a polymer that can be found naturally or created artificially, such as Nylon®. During its manufacture, some of the metal parts used are treated with non-stick products to facilitate the manufacturing process.

This material is ideal for the manufacture of mechanical parts and industrial maintenance. Thanks to its characteristics, it is used in different industrial sectors, being its most widespread use in the textile industry. In the food industry, it is used for wrappings and packaging, while in the automotive industry it is used in caps for gasoline and motor oil tanks, for example.

Main characteristics of polyamide (PA):

  • Hard thermoplastic
  • Friction resistant
  • Resistant to wear and chemicals
  • Can be supplied in various forms
  • Suitable for various industrial applications

What types of Polyamide do we work with?

  • Polyamide 6: Polyamide 6 is an aliphatic polymer formed by amide bonds, synthesized for the first time by DuPont. This type of polyamide is ideal for extrusion of parts requiring high toughness and strength.
  • Polyamide 11: Polyamide 11, commercially known as Rilsan®, is mainly used for coating metal parts by means of a rilsanization system. Its main characteristics are its low density, chemical resistance to fuels, oils, gases, water, solvents and industrial liquids, low moisture absorption and high mechanical strength. This material is commonly found in coatings for locks, door handles, as well as in the fields of transportation, packaging, medicine, electricity and industry in general.
  • Polyamide 12: Polyamide 12 is a crystalline polymer of high hardness and chemical resistance. It is highly impermeable and extremely resistant to impacts. In addition, it has excellent resistance to cracking and has a low coefficient of friction.
