Corundum is a high hardness mineral made of aluminum oxide with a wide variety of applications for the industry. It can be found in many qualities and grain sizes. At COATRESA Grup we mostly use it in order to carry out a surface preparation by projecting the corundum particles under controlled pressure. This is how we prepare the parts that will later receive the application of a non-stick or anti-corrosion technical coating. In order to carry out a thorough cleaning of a surface, to eliminate the residue of grease, oxide or drill, the particles are projected so to slightly erode the surface and provide an absolutely necessary roughness for the application of technical coatings, whether fluorinated, thermoplastic or ceramic.
