The Information Centre for Textile and Clothing Industry (Cityc) has published the latest data for Spanish international trade on the textile sector.
Spanish textile and clothing exports summoned 5.032 million euros between January and May 2014, featuring a 5.6% increase compared to the same period of the previous year. However, the biggest imports increase during the same period (a 14.2% year-on-year growth rate reaching 6.359 million euros), has established a negative trade balance of 1,327 million euros, featuring a 65% increase.
Spanish textile sector comprises over 8,471 companies and employs approximately 130,000 jobs directly according to 2013 data. During the same year, this sector generated a turnover of 9.363 million euros.
